History

Olympic Marine Services (Private) Limited (OMS) was incorporated in 1997 as a wholly owned subsidiary company of Olympic Shipping Company UAE (OSC), owned by the Greek shipping magnate Mr. Antonious Antonio as a result of his vision to globalize and expand the horizons of OSC and its activities. The company is affiliated with CASA, the ultimate authority in Sri Lanka for shipping agents. In a short period the company made an impact in the shipping industry by becoming the pioneers in carrying out off-shore bunkering in the Indian Ocean . This was done with the aid of the tankers of OSC and which led Sri Lanka to liberalize the bunkering industry which was otherwise held as a state monopoly. Other than acting as shipping agents for a few Greek shipping companies including the prestigious Tsalviris of Greece, OMS also represent Marichem Marigases as their agent in the SAARC region. This is a leading gases and chemicals supplier in the world with offices around the globe.

As an endeavor to diversify business within the same domain, in the year 2001 OMS entered into a partnership with the Marine Insurance Giant Heath Lambert UAE, which led the latter to appoint OMS as their correspondence office in Sri Lanka . The company is spear headed by the dynamic managing director Mr. Roshan de Silva, who is also the GM of the group. The operations in Sri Lanka are headed by the versatlie Mr. Shiran Anthony. Mr. De Silva and Anthony collectively bring to bear a large number of years in local and international experience.
